The app features full-screen popup ads every 10 levels or so, which on its own is relatively not so bad— except once the ad has played, and it will play, you are soft locked out of the actual game because there is no way to close the ad. Typically those infinitely small and annoying ‘X’s are slightly visible in the top right corner, except they are now even more useless because they do nothing. Perhaps a moral boost, an insidious facade of hope and freedom in the darkness that is Merge Kingdoms™️, as we poor, commiserate souls are left to rot in their Mergeless Dungeons below… Or alternatively, it requires that to play the game at all, I must close and reopen the app every 5 minutes by force of invasive brainrot, which is not particularly conducive to an analytical puzzle game. 4 Stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
And I don’t say that. Just searching though the Games tab and the uniqueness of it’s named warranted further investigation. I watched the short video, downloaded it. Bought it and have completed, maybe, 40 levels and I agree with everything the other reviewers have already said. My iPad died so everything is via my iPhone 12. I no longer search by genres as finding anything that is mentally challenging that can be “comfortably” on the i12. Very little fits those two requirements. Broki fits the bill magnificently!
I love this game so far, I really cannot begin to express my admiration for the developer(s), they’ve managed to make an engrossing and challenging game that I can’t put down! The art is great and very unique, the music is perfect background noise for thinking out your moves, and the gameplay hasn’t gotten stale after dozens of levels in a row, which is incredible. The ads are as good as ads can be, there’s NO banner ads, and the ones that pop-up between levels are very short and easily skipped, which is so rare these days. PLUS they only appear every few levels at the most, honestly I sometimes forget that I haven’t paid ($2.99) to turn them off completely lol. I only have two suggestions to improve the game, and they’re both along the same lines as each other: First, I’d like the controls to be less sticky. To move a block you sort of have to press and hold on it for a second, and that can be tiring when you’re moving blocks back and forth for a bit when you get stuck. Second, I’d like an instant reset button to recall all the blocks from the field so you can try a new approach to a tricky puzzle as quickly as possible, without having to manually pick up each block in order to clear the field. But even with those two minor complaints, this game is genuinely incredible, the kind of game you spend ages searching for, if you’re like me. If there’s a “Game of the Year” award for mobile games, this one should win it, no question.
