Bike Itaú

The payment processing functionality is complete garbage. It would not accept either a US credit card or a Peruvian debit card. I received multiple types of error messages on each. Really disappointed that I couldn’t get a bike here. I have no problems with these types of apps in other countries. Even the Citybike app in lima is way better than this. Not only do the payment options actually work there, but you can check out multiple bikes from one account on their app, which is not possible from this app, so I wouldn’t even be able to use this to get bikes for my whole family.

Bikes are great and well maintained, and the system is / can be super convenient. The software is terrible. Terrible. The customer support is great, but about half the time you can’t get any “available” bikes from a given station bc of either software or perhaps hardware problems (to be fair, many are located near the beach and get corroding sea breeze 24/7). Also about 1/4 of the time you can’t check a bike back in, bc of either app software or station hardware. It used to be a lot better in previous years, but these days is not at all dependable so often as a result you end up better off walking to be sure you arrive somewhere on time.

While it took a couple of times to realize you have to really yank the bike out when unlocked, it was all really easy and worked like it should. Glad that Bici Las Condes and Bike Itau all work together so you can use green or orange bikes and stations interchangeably. That’s really helpful.
