Beethoven’s 9th Symphony

One of my favorite iPad apps, allowing even listeners/viewers like myself with only a modicum of musical training to follow and appreciate the music. I purchased this when it first came out years ago and have enjoyed it again and again. This is really the way (one way) musical recordings should evolve in terms of presentation. You can zoom in for the many levels of detail or zoom out for the full effect. Perfect for the iPad.

I have used this app for years and have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony while watching the score scroll by. What a fabulous way to observe Beethoven’s orchestration techniques while you listen to his inimitable style. As long as I’ve listened to Beethoven, 59 years at this writing, I have never ceased being amazed at his synthesis and invention. It is all simply too marvelous to overstate. I’d love to find other apps like this for similar works.
