Audio Memos

This app has been so buggy since the beginning and the developers unfortunately fail to fix the bugs. I have been waiting for more than a year now - same crashing bugs I reported to them still present: - I keep losing audio memos which is incredibly frustrating. I lost so much work because of this app, I feel a fool for continuing to rely on this after the first instance when I recorded a long dictation on my Apple Watch and it simply disappeared. There is a pause button, but I just see it as a “russian roulette button” because if you pause recording and switch apps, you have a 50-50 chance that you will lose the recording you paused. - recordings on the Apple Watch remain in the “sync in progress” cue forever. I contacted the developers looking for solution and they tried, but failed to fix this. Sync has been broken for well over a year. Every memo you ever recorded remains in a “sync in progress” queue until you delete them manually, one by one. If you get too many, the Watch app gets overwhelmed and won’t sync at all. I am just writing this review now, after I lost a long dictation, recording my thoughts on my Apple Watch and at one point, the app randomly started a new recording and my long dictation was completely gone. Extremely frustrating and not really hard to solve - just implement autosave every few seconds and this will never happen. The fact that this hasn’t been done in over a year after I first reported it tells me that the developer doesn’t care about users losing their important data, so I’m done with this app. It is a beta app at best, and the developer is using you as a guinea pig to discover the fatal flaws of the app - and even then, they still don’t fix them.

i’m a very critical user who has tried many different audio programs and some are poor and some ate very good, but this one with its many features is outstanding. I really find it useful that you can easily append to the beginning of a recording, at the end of recording or even insert audio in the middle of a recording. Appending at the beginning is an excellent way to add to the beginning of recording when you get an idea later on and say well I should’ve added this first because it’s very important. This app can do that with no problem at all. It also has many other features some of which are distinctive to this app alone. I have been using it for years.

After discarding several recording apps for my Apple Watch I’ve settled on this one. All I wanted was something I could use relatively hands free to record a reminder or some random thought whilst driving or out walking. It’s recognized as a Complication and Siri brings it up easily. All I have to do is touch the big “record” button and bam! It is well worth the buck it costs and there are a bunch of extensions available if you need extras like attaching a recording to a photo etc. I don’t need any so haven’t purchased but good to have the options. I haven’t found a way for the mic icon to show on my watch face yet but Siri can find it for me. :)
