I’ve been using ATN optics for over 15 years and have gone through the many growing pains of ATN with their Xsight and Thor products. This app is useful after you manage to get it to connect via WiFi to your phone. For some reason it never connects the 1st few times, but always manages to connect after several attempts. It doesn’t have the greatest layout, but does make configuring an ATN THOR 4 or Xsight 4K easier than from the optic itself. There is 2 seconds of lag during live view from my Thor 4 / iPhone 8 Plus which is very disappointing as this is nearly useless for hog hunting. I appreciate ATN trying to provide cutting edge features to their customers, but this has given them a reputation of releasing beta quality products and software that can be frustrating to use when they don’t work as advertised.
I love the ATN 4K Pro 5x20, but hate the app so far. I have been trying to create profiles many ...many times without success due to when I apply the changes working within the obsidian 4 app; the scope locks up and the app loses WiFi connection. So....I tried to do everything from the scope and it has worked fine except there isn’t anyway to rename the profiles within the software of the scope. The only way to do is from within the obsidian 4 app. On a good note....I have been able to edit settings in the app and it successfully changed within the scope. I have successfully downloaded some pics and a short video, but it has been a very hit and miss due to lock ups in the obsidian app and a slow download time. Please fix these issues and you will have a lot of happy ATN customers!!
I’ve read all the negative reviews and while I’ll agree with some, others are a little demanding. Bear in mind that this is version 1.00 of this software. When in my living room I too have had the scope to act strange. Some of that may have been interference and some my own ignorance. Maybe I was just naive but I learned that SD cards come in multiple “classes”. I had two cards, one turned out to be a class 4 and the other a class 10, your scope requires a 10. I agree that having access to the pictures and video stored on the card inside the scope would be a very nice feature. Also would be nice to record straight to the phone while watching what the scope is seeing. Maybe version 1.1 will address some of the requests voiced by the many users. Someone commented that it would not work with the 4K pro, I have a 4K pro 5-20 and it works fine with it. That person may need to update his firmware. As mentioned before, I have seen connection and viewing issues while using the software in my living room however I’ve found that everything has worked perfectly once I’m setting in my shooting house. I attribute that to all the electronics and multiple WiFi signals in my home. The only real complaint that I have is actually with my scope, a problem that I might not have experienced if this software had the features being asked for. I have lost the card inside my darn scope twice. When inserting the SD card, there is the slot where you are suppose to insert it and then there is a gap in the opening just below that is just big enough for the card to slide in and then it’s floating around inside the scope. To make matters worse, the only practical place to mount the ir light partially blocks the SD card slot. I was told that the scope wouldn’t hold zero, I’ve killed two deer this year after turning the scope on and off multiple multiple times, transporting the gun on a gun rack on my side by side and both shots landed exactly where the crosshairs were indicating. Overall I’m happy with this software, and almost happy with my scope.
