Amen: Catholic Bible & Prayers

I am 66 years old on social security. I am alone in my home and sometimes very lonely. I have quite a few medical issues, one may be myasthenia gravis which makes me feel weak and unable to accomplish much. I have always been a lazy person but when I needed to get things done, I went all out and accomplished everything I needed to do. Now I do a little and have to rest a while before I can do more. I stopped going to church years ago. The chanting and hymns at church were always so beautiful to me and they remained constant for so many years of my life. I tried going back to church only to find it made me feel like I was in music class. Constantly having to learn different chants, different hymns. I was drawn away from the actual mass itself and had no real reason to be there. I tried getting on another popular app recently only to find I had to pay for it, which I don’t have the finances to do. Then I found you!!! It has spiritually given me more than I have ever had in my life and today is only my 7th day. The things you offer in this app brought me joy. I have cried for 6 days because it keeps showing me how wrong I have been through my life. This morning at the end of the daily readings, you asked what is 1 small thing I can bring to the world. At first I had no clue. For a second my tears started to come again then it seemed our Heavenly Father impressed me with “SMILE”. And for the first time I looked up and my heart and face smiled! May not be the world to most, but without this app, it may have never happened to me. THANK YOU 🥰

Thank you so much for providing the Amen app. It is beautiful in so many ways. I started using It on Ash Wednesday as a way to keep myself more disciplined in prayer. Because I am a caregiver of my elderly mother, I still avoid large groups since the pandemic started, which has affected my prayer and spiritual life. I used to be in a rosary group and a Bible study group. I have felt more isolated praying these last 3 years. Overall I have felt more anxious and lonely trying not to get sick and potentially getting my 93 year old mother sick. God has felt more distant to me. I believe strongly in Christ’s words he gave us on the road to Emmaus, where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am. Using the Amen app allows me to have that again, rather than praying in isolation. With God sense of time is not linear, so when I listen to an Amen meditation, I am praying along with the person who recorded It. I am particularly pleased how calming the voice is on the meditations. I feel a sense of peace and joy listening to the various meditations. If I am tired when listening, I have even become so relaxed I have fallen asleep. What a beautiful way to fall asleep, listening to God’s words! I gave up social media for Lent and added the Amen app. I already feel less anxious after 5 days. The Holy Spirit is with the creators of this application. May God bless and keep them all. I am grateful.

Initially, I was a bit skeptical with the app. I was afraid it would be glitchy, cheesy, poorly-designed, not user-friendly, not have good content, etc etc. But after using it for a couple days, I’m actually very surprised at how well-made and designed this app is. The background music/sounds are great. The meditations are deep and contemplative. The daily readings and reflections help further my understanding of Scripture and my faith. Someone mentioned how they didn’t like how they background music/sounds didn’t pause when they hit pause but for me personally I love that the background keeps playing. Sometimes I just like to have the calming background music/sounds to continue playing for moments where I need to reflect a little longer than prompted or to just simply have on to pray on my own. One thing however, I did put on a meditation before going to bed with the background sound and fell asleep shortly after the meditation was over but the background sound was still playing all night until I woke up! Not sure how much battery that took up! But overall, really impressed with the app and I’m looking forward to going through all the other content and continue praying with this app! Definitely will donate and contribute to this awesome app! Thank you!
