Hello! I like appediet alot personally. It's totally free to use, and it's super convenient. All the basic features don't require a subscription, so you can use it for free. I haven't tried the food scan feature, I always input the food I eat manually, but l've never had any issues with it. :) There's one thing I'd like to criticise, and it's about weight stigmatising. For context, l've struggled with food and been severely underweight in the past. The issue I have with appediet is the subtle suggestion that gaining weight is bad. When you track your weight in this app, any weight loss will show a green arrow (implying good), and weight gain will show a red arrow (implying bad). I also got a notification this morning that said something like, "Make sure to track your diet today so you don't overeat." I understand appediet is marketed as a weight loss app (not weight gain), and thats totally fine! it's really not a huge deal, but these small details insinuate that weight gain is bad, and its not always. There are healthy ways to gain weight, which can be beneficial for cases like mine :) edit: im changing this review because i no longer agree with this use of ai and data collection. i think ai should not be so normalized either, please reconsider supporting apps like this, especially big companies
Overall I’m a fan and use it daily. But there’s a few issues that I feel like would be easy to resolve and shouldn’t exist in the first place. First, if you record an item on an incorrect day, you can’t change it to a different day. And second, if you put it in the wrong slot like breakfast or lunch and it’s supposed to be a snack you should absolutely be able to change that without deleting and re-adding, especially if it’s something with multiple components it’s really annoying. I’ve also found that the barcode scanner will usually pull up the right food item, but often the totals will be totally different and I’m not sure if that’s just because I’m overseas so maybe things are a little bit off but it’s easy to just scan the nutrition label as well at the same time so that’s not too big of a deal.
At first, I was skeptical that when I seen it had in a purchases that it’s just going to be a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff asking left and right for charges but I’m glad I made the choice to try this app. This app has the best version for both paid and free users and offers so many different things for free users to get a test and then for those who want to access to extra stuff which isn’t really required then you could just only pay 30 bucks a year, which is in my opinion a really good price this app has helped me a lot and I’m sure it would help many others. (For those who think I’m a bot, I’m not this is an actual review)
