VK: music, video, messenger

I’m not much of a social networking person but I’m interested in content not readily available in the US, and that’s where VK saves the day. However, finding copyrighted/mature content (audiobooks, movies, videos, etc) has always been a challenge given that the majority of content is labeled or titled in Russian—and to make matters worse, SAFE SEARCH has now been disabled in the search filter, turning up even more irrelevant results. The algorithm does a fine job recommending relevant content but it’s pushing a lot of communities to the curb. The things I hate most about American social media apps (political correctness and censorship) has now infiltrated VK.

I absolutely love this social media network! The feed has an AI system to detect what posts the user is interested in, so the posts on top get shown first. For those who do not like the order, they can change it in settings to make it newest first. The Search feature helped me find plenty of ornithological groups and much more fun ideas, posts and groups. The comments can glitch, but it is pretty rare and it can be solved by just restarting the app. The comment system is great overall. Also, you can make audio and video calls! The notifications help me get posts from interesting groups, friends and people I followed. If you do not want to receive notifications, you can safely turn them off on the page's menu. The additional features are also great! I really recommend this to everyone!

⚖️ VK is the most free social media platform on planet Earth. Although I’ve been sanctioned, & even banned, on other platforms, VK has always welcomed me without censorship. I wish my fellow Americans in political & economic power would engage in even a fraction of the dialogue that I’ve enjoyed with Russians & former Soviet citizens. Classical diplomacy between reasonable minds is the best way to bridge the divide of issues, precluding war…assuming that all Parties share the goal of a mutually beneficial peace. Perhaps this process should begin at the citizen level. Perhaps our respective People should use VK to learn about who we truly are, dispel the myths & come to enjoy one another, to earn mutual respect & admiration on a personal level.
