Worst tournament I’ve ever participated in
The Mohegan Sun tournament June 12-14 is the worst tournament I have seen in almost 20 years of being around AAU basketball as an AAU coach, college coach, and now a parent. The blatant money grab of taking as many teams as possible and putting out 50min time blocks is COMPLETELY unacceptable. 17 game slots on Saturday starting at 8:00am and ending with a “9:20pm” game slot. Our 1:50 game didn’t start until about 3:00pm. Most reputable tournament use 65min time blocks but even 60min blocks would have had our game starting on time. 60min time blocks would have that “9:20pm” game starting at MIDNIGHT. I literally have never seen this in 19 years of coaching. Then the company LIES to its teams that “multiple OT games and competitive games have put courts extremely behind” and now they are stealing playing time from kids by going to running clock. Our Friday night game was a 33-3 win with running time in the first half and it barely fit in the 50min time slot. THIS COMPANY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING. HORRIBLE
