It’s…

Ok, I would like to start off by saying this app is definitely thorough by constantly reviewing old stuff while keeping up with new lessons, most of the time TT explains the lesson very well, but on occasion they do not give you same “work” as he taught in the lecture. I only have two complaints about this math course, #1 The downloads… i find it very inconvenient to have to redownload my lessons that I have already completed just to look back at old problems. #2 when first starting Algebra 1 he gives a very good explanation of how to do the problem, however I have found that later in the course he gets a little.. I wouldn’t say lazy but a little lax on the solution to the problems that I didn’t do correctly. While other times the video might be 5 or so minutes long explaining something that could’ve been explained in just a minute or two In that case I would say they’re very thorough, but not in the right places. I would recommend this math course to people who are just starting algebra 1 and need someone to walk you through each step.

Works well

Teaching Textbooks has vastly improved my children’s math skills and simplified that area of school. There are many reasons why I’m loving Teaching Textbooks. I guess the top are, that they are able to rewatch a video several times which was a great relief to my daughter who struggles in math… no more frustrated teacher becoming impatient, which was a problem in her last school. I appreciate how much easier it is now because of our ability to leave the house yet continue their math while we travel. And since they immediately grade the lessons, I’m able to see any problems they’re having immediately. I would like the scratch pad work to be saved in an update at some point, so I could see where they’re going wrong, that would be a nice improvement. But I can still see which problems gave them trouble, go back and have them do the problem again in front of me and then I can help them from there. Overall, solid curriculum which can simplify the math part of your day at least!

A little buggy...

Sometimes when there’s a “select the simplified equation” kind of question it won’t show up the unsimplified equation. Can’t blame y’all though :D Since writing this review the app has only been up for a week or so I can see why it could still be pretty buggy at times. Other than that there a few more performance issues that make it hard to get through a lesson, and a few glitchy cuts with the narrator whenever there’s a sound effect. I love teaching textbooks, and it’s kind of a shame that you had to start over with a mobile app. Since using this program I’ve been so much less stressed out and I can learn so much faster when I can go at my own pace and not be slowed down by anxiety from the pressure of others ;)
