The Roku App (Official)

It was so useful and convenient a while ago! Now it's super buggy. I often have to close and reopen it several times in one sitting, the remote often doesn't even work unless you close the app and open it again. If you leave the TV you're connected to, you'll get periodic warnings that the "headphone mode is turned off" even though you haven't used that feature in months. It's bad.

I’ve been using Roku since they first hit the market and I love it. I highly recommend Roku to anyone who wants to enjoy great TV content. I’m using my Roku right now to watch football on Sling and along with a few streaming services I can watch football games that are not available in my area, which makes my wife happy because we can watch her Lions game today which is not available in our area. I can also record other games I want to see while watching her game. Happy wife, happy life. With one of my few steaming services I am able to watch and record motor racing from Europe that is not otherwise unavailable in America so I’m extremely pleased with all of the programming I can enjoy with Roku, Sling and the 4 streaming services, two of which I get free with my AT&T fiber internet access and my Walmart+ account. Most of all I love my Sling account that I have on my Roku which allows me to watch Fox News and other premium channels for a low price and I have unlimited recording so I can watch my favorite shows whenever I have time. Regular network news either lies to us, twists the truth into their socialist propaganda or simply do not report the news I want to know about. Roku makes all of this programming available in one place at the push of a button. I love it.

Changing my review to say the app works much better now. Went from not working at all to working consistently. only took them a long while lol. Im very thankful for it (when it's working properly) because evidently my household can keep track of a single remote. I can't even find the remote I just bought. It's still in the box🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️. So I, and other family members can use the app as a remote when needed! Thank you roku😘

I use to absolutely love this app, it worked perfectly and there were very few problems I had with it. Now if i would like to listen through another device, I have to manually connect it, and that shows me an IP address that when i enter to manually connect, it is invalid. No amount of restarting fixes this. I have gone to the FAQ and did ALL of the things it showed that said it should help. It did not. Even if it did I would have to keep the app open because the moment I turn the screen off of the device that it is playing from, it will close the app ENTIRELY. Again I have gone to FAQ for this issue and nothing. I have no idea what is going on or why this is happening but it is genuinely so annoying and so frustrating. I thought it might be because I need to update the app or that I needed to reset my Roku. I checked for updates, none. So I just reset my Roku and only then did it “fix” things. This is also happening to the rest of my family who all use this app and listen through it instead of through the tv. I understand that resetting can seem very little to some but it is very frustrating that JUST TO CONNECT TO MY ROKU, I have to entirely RESET SAID ROKU. Please fix this.

I got the Roku app for one reason, and one reason only, The Rich Eisen Show. Despite the app not being user friendly and being able to find the live version of the show difficult at best, I enjoyed being able to live stream the show, so I put up with the issues. For example, despite their being an icon with The Rich Eisen Show logo on the hoescreen, I could not watch the show directly from there on the mobile app. I have to search “The Rich Eisen Show”, then go to that link where I could actually watch the live show. But the functionality of the app has gotten worse over time, especially with the most recent updates. Not only is the app constantly freezing, but the recent changes to where the live version of The Rich Eisen Show is NOT on the Rich Eisen Channel, but you have to go to the Roku Sports Channel is not a good improvement. I enjoyed being able to go right from the live show from 9AM-Noon EST, and into the replay of the same show directly afterwards. That way, if I missed anything from the live show that I wanted to see/hear, I can watch though the replay right away. Now, the only show being replayed on The Rich Eisen Show channel is from the previous day, not the current day like it used to be, AND there is no more immediate replay of the current day’s show. I wasn’t a huge fan of the app to begin with, and now I am even less of a fan.

useless at worst, unoptimal at best. I tried connecting to my TV and it didn't show up. Then Itried to do it manually by IP address—nothing. It took 20-30 minutes of restarting my phone and my TV, unpliggimg my router, reconnecting everything, then searching for devices again. eventually it worked for a while, but had a couple seconds of latency for every input. then it disconnected and I couldn't find my device again. I spent more time trying to use the app than actually using it.
