I wanted to share a couple of observations. First, as a blind person who uses a screen reader, I’d like a more consistent approach in terms of how teams are referenced. In the four major US men’s leagues, NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA, when a game alert comes out for the start of the contest, you use the team names, but for the final score, you use an abbreviation to represent the team by its home city. So tonights Blues Vs. Blackhawks game says Blues at Blackhawks for the starting alert, but the final will be sent at as STL at CHC. Personally, from an accessibility viewpoint and use of a screen reader, team names work better. IN the college arena where many teams have similar nicknames, the Utah State, New Mexico State and Texas A&M Aggies for example, use the name of the school for the alert. My second observation is that the search feature for teams needs to be improved. Some MLS teams do not have more than their city written for the search find, Austin and San Diego are examples. The search screen also pulls up every single team in the database, please for the love of time and efficiency, allow the user to at least select the league from which they are wanting to set up various team alerts, such as MLB or NCAA Football. Great article. Listened to Mike Rupp this morning on Nhl radio and they asked him about the Fluery/Lehner situation and Walsh tweet. He said he didn’t think it would have any effect on the players and even went so far to say players probably laughed about it. I have respect for Rupp’s opinionbut in this case I think he is one hundred percent wrong. The decisions that the front office made as outlined in this article had to creep into the players minds even if they all deny it. And the coaches minds as well ,think back to deboer when asked about lehner’s play after game two of stars series, he answered by saying he feels great with whoever is in net to me that was him realizing this goalie situation was being analyzed to death and he was going to have to answer. Fluery is beloved in Vegas and in that locker room (see T-Mobile commercial with big smile on Mark Stone face) so yes huge distraction and in my opinion the Golden Knights in the end got what the deserve for disrupting the chemistry in such a huge way. Again great article touching on the moves the Knights made, sports is a business so we should never be surprised when things like this happen but the Knights could have handled it so much better. Here is hoping Fluery is back in Penguins black and gold next year. One other great point of the article is how others will view this front office and their transparency, or lack thereof, if you are a coach or player so you want to part of that type of organization. I mean really, fire a coach two years after he takes an expansion team to the Stanley Cup Final, give me a break that should entitle you to a bit of a longer leash.

Everything is back to normal with the technical aspects of the app! HALLELUJAH! The app goes back to 5 Stars because, after the latest fix, The Athletic has the best sports content with the best writers around. Thank you for all the app fixes in recent weeks! Please don't do that again! ---------------------------------------------------------------- You've recovered much after you blew up the usefulness of your app a month or two ago, but there is still a few glaring item you continue to overlook with your many updates to recover: the app still no longer syncs read articles in My Feed across devices and the website like it used to do. And, you still can't swipe left or right across articles in My Feed using an iPad though you can again do so with an iPhone. A thing I loved about how the app was previously set up was that articles you read on, say, the iPad also showed up as read on my iPhone and the website. Please fix these remaining problems you introduced to what previously was one of the best sports subscription apps available and I'll go back to a 5-star rating.
