Thai Dictionary - Dict Box

This app ROCKS! I am a farang, but I speak Thai. It’s been 40 yrs since I lived in Thailand. I’m headed back there now, so I needed to do some brushing up. Other apps don’t offer half the abilities of this app. You can speak English or Thai into the microphone, and it will bring up the word along with options, examples and synonyms. Click on any word and it will bring that word up. Click on the speaker icon and a Thai voice will pronounce the word. You can also type in words—Thai or English—in the search bar and go about your search that way. Get it! Don’t bother with the other ones.

I’ve been using this app for 3+ years and have finally decided to write a review. I move back and forth between the US and TL and this app is 100% the best language app. It’s definitely slightly more useful if you speak a bit of both languages, since it gives all the different possible translations but IMHO this leads to better communication since other apps like google just directly translate in the most obvious way. It also provides audio for the words, and has a memory of your saved words (if you find yourself searching similar things frequently).

I used to use several Thai-Eng dictionary apps but I have finally stuck with only this one for several years. It is easy to search back and forth Thai to English and English to Thai. This app also aggregates data from several dictionary databases which is convenient to look up alternative meanings from other sources. However, I deduct 1 star from my rating for annoying ads that pop up so often when I am about to type the vocabulary down. Sometimes, I have to wait for 5 seconds in order to close the ads and continue typing. I know that is how you still manage to make this app free for us so I do not want to complain much. It just would be nice if it comes in a less annoying way.
