Tahanan: Learn Tagalog

I've been using Tahanan for four weeks, and I feel like I've learned more now than I have with the years of self-study I've done in the past. I love the simple bite-sized lessons and the clear explanations. My speaking coach Darlyn has been especially helpful in correcting my pronunciations and giving tips on making my speech more natural. Finally, the AI conversation feature is so helpful as it gives me confidence to speak without a Tita judging me. I'm so glad I made this investment, and I hope to see more Philippine languages become available (especially Ilokano, my parents' language.)

I been waiting for someone to make a Tagalog language app. Other ones do it but not this thorough. He has the usual lingo style vocab recall etc. but this also has audio lessons, the regular lesson plan, an AI phone call lessons where you talk back and forth with an AI track, daily challenges, and then an actual teacher from the Philippines who will send you sentences to read everyday and then send you audio correcting you. I’ve been doing it for about 3-4 months now daily and my most shocked was watching a video online and being able to follow the convo for a bit. I wasn’t perfect but I found myself not having to read caption in English as much. Absolutely love it!

You can definitely see the amount of effort put into this app, very organized and I appreciate how they went above and beyond to incorporate background information on Filipino culture. It's nice that they use real people for the voiceovers which lets you hear accurate pronunciation. After seeing this app advertised on Instagram I immediately downloaded and paid for my first month to work towards my goal of being able to communicate with my Filipino side of the family. I'd say their pricing isn't so bad because let's be honest- the average person spends that much at the drive through. Their lessons are easy to understand and have really helped me pick up new words and phrases. No complaints, I definitely recommend!
