Spartan Forge: Hunt

The Spartan forge app has so many features that have helped me prepare for deer season this fall. I want to name a couple features that has helped me the most because I hunt multiple states each year. Not only does it do everything the OnX app does for a WAY better price but it also has the journaling feature so that when I’m scouting for new properties and I see what I’m looking for in a field I can notate that down along with adding a picture, I can also put in what my access capabilities are for each property. This will save the information I need within the app to refer back to later. Their new updates help a ton when trying to learn a new property terrain without having to trample all over the woods. You can have a lot of the basic features for free with this app that other apps make you pay for and you get all of the states for the basic price of the app instead of paying over $100 on onX for all states. I couldn’t be happier with this app and I cannot wait for all my scouting and hard work to pay off this fall thanks to Spartan forge!

I think Spartan Forge is on the right track. The latest update has really put them ahead of a lot of other similars apps. They fixed a lot of issues, more so user error, with the UI and mapping functions. I initially purchased this app because I was fascinated with the AI and use of GPS deer collar data….it just makes sense. I think that and the current/historiacla weather data is what really sets them apart from everyone else. My only complaint is that the public land mapping and boundary isn’t as good as OnX. I know it will get better with time and it’s certainly usable as is but it could definitely be a bit better as far as boundary accuracy and available layers like “walk in access”. Either way I’m excited where this app is heading and they have accomplished alot in such a short time!

I think it’s solid app, whether it be your primary solo hunting / mapping app or one that supplements others - it definitely should have a top spot in ones hunting arsenal. Not sure about some of the comments about the maps lacking detail. The app has multiple map types you can cycle through and I found spartan forge to have the highest level of detail compared to some other popular ones out there. nationwide private / public land boundary and info in one place without breaking the bank. that’s solid! moon data is nice, local browse I thought was an awesome addition, detailed weather info with dominant wind direction and history. all this and i haven’t even mentioned the movement predictor… here’s the thing - after listening to many podcasts with the creator I believe he and his crew are passionate about what they do, believe in their product and will do their very best to deliver a quality product that seeks to enhance the hunters arsenal. and all this while not being redundant! great app guys i’m enjoying it.
