SkillCat: EPA 608 & HVAC

SkillCat has been one of the best educational resources I've found for learning HVAC-R and expanding my knowledge of the skilled trades. As a student in an Energy Management and Controls Technology program, I've used many different training resources, and SkillCat has done an excellent job of presenting complex topics in a way that's easy to understand while still being technically accurate. What I appreciate most is that the lessons are well organized, engaging, and self-paced. The combination of videos, illustrations, quizzes, and hands-on explanations has helped reinforce concepts that I can apply both in the classroom and in real-world situations. The certifications are an added bonus and demonstrate a commitment to helping students and technicians continue developing their skills. I also appreciate that SkillCat continues to improve the platform and genuinely asks for student feedback. That says a lot about a company that is invested in creating a better learning experience. If I could suggest one future enhancement, it would be adding the ability to highlight lessons, bookmark important sections, and take digital notes directly within the app. I think this would make it even easier for students to review material and build a personalized reference guide throughout their training. Overall, I highly recommend SkillCat to anyone interested in HVAC-R or the skilled trades—whether you're just getting started or looking to expand your knowledge. *Real Customer, not a PAID review* I recently started using the SkillCat app, and I am thoroughly impressed with its latest update. The app is now more user-friendly and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. This update has significantly enhanced the overall user experience. One of the standout features of SkillCat is its tailored approach to user needs. The app offers a wide range of trade-specific certifications, including HVAC with the EPA 608 certification, electrical, and plumbing certifications and more. This makes it an invaluable resource for anyone looking to advance their skills in these trades. What sets SkillCat apart is its affordability and convenience. There’s no need to spend a fortune on trade school when you can access high-quality, accredited training through SkillCat. The app offers a free trial, and after that, it’s only $10 a month. This is a fraction of the cost of traditional trade schools, making it accessible to a wider audience. Overall, SkillCat is a game-changer for anyone pursuing a career in the trades. Its user-centric design, comprehensive certification options, and cost-effectiveness make it a must-have app for both beginners and seasoned professionals.

The courses were decent enough, and the EPA certification was far faster than other sites. The problem is that unless you pay for the continuing service, you will be completely unable to access any of your certificates or diplomas you might have earned. The website says that downloading the app will allow you to access these certificates by logging in and viewing your profile. The app simply refuses to load past the loading screen that says “loading you profile”, however, preventing you from doing this. I have waited ridiculous amounts of time on the screen on multiple connections to test this, and even re-installed the app. To be clear, the programs were all decent enough that a few months subscription would have been worth it to me, if I needed more time to complete a course or two. I DID pay the $50 to get a physical EPA 608 card, so this is not saying that everything should be free. It can definitely be worth it. Having been in the trades for years, everything I experienced within the app while it was working shows me it is a worthwhile tool. Outside of a few videos not working, some errors in quizzes and tests where correct answers were marked incorrect, or very poorly worded, the whole experience was good. I am only saying that I would not expect to be able to access anything after your subscription ends, which could be a major issue.
