Shroomify - Mushroom ID USA

Shroomify is a pretty good app, I just think they need to add a few things. For example, I was trying to ID a white mushroom on my lawn that I studied one summer. It seemed like an Amanita, so when I couldn’t find a match on Shroomify, I searched up Amanita in the Search by Name section. Only a few Amanitas were listed, and none looked like my mushroom. I understand that there’s lots, but please add more. I also searched up Amanita theirsii to read up on it, and it wasn’t in the app either. I also saw a mushroom that could have been Pluteus petasatus, but Pluteus petasatus wasn’t on the app. That mushroom was growing in clover, its cap was flat throughout all the stages of growth I saw, it had that “mushroomy” scent, the gills decayed brown, and these nasty, teeny little bugs were all over the older ones. It wasn’t bulgy at the base, and it grew with a few others fairly far apart. I think the gills were free from the stem, and were curved. They grew before I saw shaggy manes pop up. Also, I think Shroomify should add a “what kind of place is it growing” question on the Identify Mushrooms section; that would be super helpful. Developer, if you’re reading this, please take my suggestions. Other newbie mycophiles, fyi this is a good app, but take its ID’s with a grain of salt. Always cross-reference and be sure of your ID’s BEFORE eating ANYTHING from the wild. NO app is going to be right 100% of the time, and neither are you. Mistakes can be deadly, so be careful! This is not a “point, shoot, and here’s your answer” app. I’m delighted to have found Shroomify. The devil is in the details as with many things. In this case, misidentification that can lay you low. Shroomify requires careful examination of physical dimensions, features of the stem, to characteristics of the underside of the cap! Knowing this, along with other distinguishing traits, not only helps with the name of the one in question but teaches the user to be observant when identifying the next mushroom. Clear indications of ones considered edible/desirable versus the ones that are poisonous, even deadly, sets a proper tone. Because of slight variations between the good, the bad, and the ugly, Shroomify stresses getting final confirmation from an expert before loading up your spaghetti sauce with a killer!

This is the best app ever since the apps that you scan require an iOS update or 13, Whatever old phones can’t do that and can’t have those apps so you can’t identify mushrooms this one you can! And you can even learn more in this app than those other ones and completely ad-free and even if you don’t have the premium you can still learn so much! I love this app when I got it this is my favorite app!
