Hi there! i'm a vocal student at an arts high school. i'm a sophomore, but since i transferred from the theatre major with no prior knowledge of how music worked and only my natural talent in singing to guide me, i kinda got stuck in the first choir level, so now i'm trying to catch up a bit on my music theory. i ended up getting this app, as well as a few others, just to give it a go and see how it works. i was pleasantly surprised... at first. i did the "2 weeks free if you share with 4 people" rubbish without knowing it would only give me 2 weeks, since it DOESN'T PLAINLY STATE THAT, and that was pretty disappointing, obviously, since i kinda felt scammed..? but it wasn't terribly soul-crushing, of course, and i tried to continue to the third lesson of basics, since i could now access that with my free 2 weeks of pro. when i tried to do the lesson, however, it just... randomly introduced some words i'd never heard before (which is rare for me lol), and then... didn't explain them at all and expected me to answer questions about them..? so that sucked. pretty neat otherwise, though, i guess! ~Bee
So far, I’m loving this app! I just downloaded it & practiced the entire 1st level (6 sub levels). I love how it’s similar to Duolingo. I love the design, the fact that it requires you to figure out the notes being played by sound AND reading. It also ask you to write the music notes on the staff. My only reservation about paying for the subscription is that it seems to be for only one person. It would be awesome if there was an option to create an multiple profiles. I have 2 boys that I’m trying to use this for, and it would be great if they can each have their own profile. Even if you create a payment option per the number of profiles needed… I’d rather pay a little extra. I had one kid practice the first level and the 2nd one is trying to practice & it’s taking him to the next major level without practicing all the skills in the previous level. If I wasn’t watching him, he would be completely lost. I didn’t read anywhere that multiple profiles can be created. Please consider making that change. Thank you!
I am trying to learn music theory on my own and have bought a couple books to do so. The books have examples but I was hoping to find something that I could follow along with and “hear” what I was learning. I downloaded this because I was looking for something to supplement, and not expecting much because most of the others were lack luster. I told myself “I’ll probably cancel the subscription after the trial” I was wrong! After using this for only 30 minutes it is well worth the money for someone trying to learn music solo. It is a similar format to Duolingo, and helps to be a visual and audible supplement to the material I am reading. It lets you work through tons of examples and really helps solidify the concepts of music theory. I can’t only speak from my experience, but I will be continuing to use this as I learn.
