Remootio

This app has been a life saver and a convenience. Plus the features of it are remarkable. So many times when I don’t have the remote or I don’t want to carry the remote and just my phone, the app has been such a BIG CONVENIENCE. Of course I haven’t read all the negative reviews, but they make it so easy to install, so easy to use, and extra features that are SO useful. I wish they advertise this thing more better. I luckily found this through doing some research… but I could have missed it. Besides the usefulness of not carrying the remote, they made features where it can be connected through Bluetooth or through cellular or WiFi. So if I have like a ring app and family needs to get in the house, I can just open the gate and/or garage for them. Another convenience is no I’m renting out the house, I can share a “guest pass” to certain people with limited features. These programmers are on top of the game!!!!! Yeah it might take a few seconds to open the gate with the app, but come on…. Like what 5 extra seconds?!?! I RECOMMEND THIS APP! It’s an all around 5 STAR!!!!! Also some people have complained about the magnetic sensor sometimes not detecting if the gate is open or closed. I found an easy fix to that. Just put more neodymium magnets in a little area surrounding where you put the original magnet. And it will catch the sensor. Sometimes the sensor could be a little off. But no biggy….

The sheer number of features for the price is unbeatable. Being able to open my gate from anywhere, being able to set the gate to remain open for a period of time, and the many different ways to share keys are the pros. There are a few things that are lacking, which I hope can be addressed by the developers: - It takes a long time for the app to connect to the Remootio 3 device every time I open it. (Between 10-30 seconds) Note that I have excellent WiFi signal (between -45 and -50 RSSI) with a Speedtest registering at roughly 200mbps up/ 200mbps down next to where the device is placed. Even if I open the Notification Center, the app has to reconnect this long to reconnect. It would make everything so much better if the app kept the connection online in the background and if it would connect to my Remootio faster (say 5 seconds instead of 20) - This leads to the second issue. Because it takes so long to connect to the device, all three voice assistants (Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant) will time out and fail to open my gate. - There are occasional issues when I tell Remootio to hold my gate open for XX minutes. When I try to override it — to close it before the timer expires — it refuses to close, so I have to wait for the timer to end before it will close. It would be better if there was an option to just hold the gate open indefinitely until I press a button to close it. I hope some of these issues can be addressed soon.

Update: Restarted the device and HomeKit integration was successful! Update: Remootio 2 now has ability to integrate with HomeKit. Unfortunately, when I try to integrate I get “Accessory update error”message. Multiple attempts. Update: with version 5.1, my Remootio 2 sometimes says “sensor not enabled”. The app and product are fantastic. I easily installed the device on my garage door with the help of the wiring diagram and the animated tutorial videos on their website. I had to play with the settings to get the app to tell me when the door had been opened or closed. When I share a key, even though I enable notifications on the user’s device and agree to the setting inside of my Remootio app, the user is not notified when he or she opens the garage door. Also quirky is that when some users open the garage door I, as the administrator, receive a notification that “Garage door opened by user name X”, but I don’t receive this notification for all users. Same settings enabled on each user’s device and same process followed when I shared the key with each user.
