Ranchr - Cattle Record Keeping

Pros: easy to use. it’s great that I can have multiple people add records on the app. The website is a great tool. Overall we’ve really enjoyed using this app! It’s made such a wonderful addition to record keeping. Cons: the filtering tool can glitch when checking on multiple cows it sometimes removes the filter once you exit a cow. The pictures don’t always save. It would also be nice to be able to date pictures and add more or even a pdf. It would be helpful if, once you’re in a cow’s file; you could push left or right to scroll to the next file.

Been using for a couple of years. It can be a little buggy but that is improving. Love the web interface ! It’s well worth the monthly charge. I wish the sale of calves were more intuitive and that the calves detailed info would show under the sales tab rather than just amount and date. Would love to see sales /weight of calves by dam as it would help grade the dam.

I’ve been playing around with different cattle management apps to try to find one that works great for my situation. I like the layout of this app the best so far in that it’s easy to scroll through the list of cows and see at a glance what the breed/cross of each one is. However it is far too glitchy at the moment. I enter a calf under the cow and it initially shows in the main list with a green tag next to the cow’s number, which is great and exactly what I needed (to see at a glance which cows have a calf at side). However, when I go back in the green tag is sometimes gone, the calf is gone and usually her calf is now listed under a different cow. Then there is no way to reassign that calf back to the correct cow or easily delete the calf. There also needs to be some sorting functions or more advanced filtering by breed, age etc. For now I will have to move to a different app that is more consistent but I will watch for updates on Ranchr and would be willing to give it another try if these issues are addressed and resolved.
