POPLIGHT

The poplights are awesome, but they’re only as good as our ability to control and use them. This app is not helping. You have got to do better. The lamps get randomly unsynced. I have 2 and sometimes the all controls one and sometimes both. The buttons for adjusting settings are very confusing and hard to tell the setting you’ve selected, especially with the timers. The on/off button is not intuitive. You’d expect it to say “on” with a picture of the lamp being on when it’s ACTUALLY “on”. But it means the opposite. The buttons are also not very reactive, have to tap multiple times. I don’t mind turning them on manually, but sometimes they get stuck on a previous timer and have to continuously turn them on if I can’t edit the timer. Overall a very frustrating user experience. Please look to address this.

The app needs a lot of work to be properly functional. You can’t turn the lights on/off without going into the light settings. If you group lights, they can no longer be turned on/off individually. The app loses connection with the lights frequently and you have to refresh to bring them back up. If you click any of the timer settings, you cannot remove the timer. You can also not adjust the hour setting of the custom timer. Navigation through the app is not intuitive, requiring you to learn how to use it instead of functioning based on common UX patterns. The lights themselves feel and look cheap, all plastic. Would expect more from something this expensive! Install was a breeze and I love that there’s no need to adjust electrical or have visible cords. Color tone is limited and the warmest color is still a bit more cool than I expected. Light occasionally turns off on its own after a few minutes (fully charged). On/off control on the lights are very touchy! All in all, great concept, poor design all around.

I love the lamp (though yes light temp), but haaaaate the app. I understand the lamp connects via Bluetooth than wifi which is fine, but I constantly lose connection with the lamp via the app. All I want is to be able to turn the light on and off while in bed instead of fiddling with the button. But the app design is so bad that I have to always go into Adjust Settings, re-connect the light, and then turn it on or off. I don’t care if the app looks cute, I want to it to work! The app for my smart plug is so utilitarian but guess what, it works! I open it and it goes directly to controls! Also, the graphics are not great UI as it obscures functions and doesn’t make it clear how to use it. I really really really want them to redesign the app. The lamp is good, now focus on usability please.
