Pocket Frens: Self Care Dog

This is the only self care/habit tracker app that keeps me coming back. I have tried many. My dog Cider is a good balance of motivation and reassurance, and sometimes just friendly chats. The music is soothing, and the journal and ‘breathe’ systems are not stressful. I have only ever encountered a single bug: if my dog has a question for me, but also has to go outside, I can’t answer her question. Then when I take her outside, the question is no longer there for me to answer. I believe this bug may have already been fixed, however, as I did not encounter it again. 10/10 game! Plus, I am EXTREMELY impressed that it’s being developed/managed by a two person team. Keep it up guys, you’re doing good things :)

The app is cool, but it can get a little boring because there’s not that many actions you can do with the dog. I feel like if it had more features it would be more motivating to perform the self care aspects of the game. For instance, it would be nice actually play fetch with the dog rather than sending messages to the dog and it narrates it playing fetch. There could be more rooms. Maybe more stuff on walks. Maybe more animations with the dog, like if I ask it to roll over, there’s an animation it. Also I think it would be cool if you could choose to have a cat, or maybe both cat and dog. Oh and tasks should be provided with more information. For example a task will say perform care actions, I click the information icon and it just says take care of your dogs needs, but what needs? What specifically can I do to get this task done to get the hearts? What makes personality meter go up and down? Things aren’t very clear

I love this game. It helps me so much throughout my day. I would love the options to interact with my dog more and be able to actually do more things with her. And I’d love it if there was an option for visiting neighbors and interacting with them more to help build friendships and things. I love the daycare option because it allows me to send her to daycare while I am at work. It’s comforting knowing how I know she’s off having fun while I work instead of being lonely. But I’d love more interactions with her. And more kinds of conversations and allow the conversations to grow over time.
