Photon - DMX Light Controller

ArtNet device control and sequencing works great once you get used to it. Pretty intuitive to operate.

Having used some more expensive DMX apps, I really appreciate how easy this is to use and customize. I’m using it for filmmaking applications and creating different groups/zones is incredibly simple. The developer is also really responsive and open to user requests as well!

Until recently I have been using the Luminair app, which cost $100 and the interface isn’t nearly as easy to use. With Photon, even the Free version has more than enough features to run the lighting for my live shows, and I was able to set up a show with custom lights in a only few minutes. I really don’t know why this app has the reviews that it does, Because it is simple, functional, intuitive, and affordable. The only reason I did not give a 5-star review is that there is no way to sync your data to another device. That would be useful for me because I do not have dedicated iPad for my venue we use more than one device. We have to program each instance of this app individually, which is an inconvenience. I hope that sync and/or share is the feature that will be at in the future.
