Pen and Page

I really enjoy using Pen & Page for daily journaling—it’s beautifully designed and well worth the premium price. The writing experience with Apple Pencil feels natural, and the app makes journaling a joy. That said, I can only give it 3 stars instead of 5 because it’s a bit glitchy. Specifically, I can’t change my Apple Pencil ink color unless I close and reopen the app. The same issue happens when switching from pencil to eraser: while the Pencil shows it’s in eraser mode, the app doesn’t actually switch until I restart it. If these glitches were fixed, this would be a five-star app for me.

I love the layout of this app. Each date has its own page enabling text, drawing etc. This is perfect for the tech savvy sales or service tech to jot notes about a customer or take meeting minutes. Sharing function is excellent. Would be a five star (or 6) with two simple updates: 1) work with scribble. As much as we can read our own handwriting, sometimes others just can’t. 2) eliminate the app premium features from the top of every page. While it doesn’t copy to pages you share it’s unnecessary to start every page. I got the monthly subscription and it’s still at the top of every page. Lastly, the add a page function appears to cover existing data and should be more intuitive. All in all still worth the subscription price.

I’ve been wanting a journaling app for my iPad for a while now that I can use with the Apple pencil and that would use my handwriting instead of turning it into type. I found only a few and they were missing features like being able to lock it and they didn’t have good export features. This has both! They are premium features you have to pay for but there is a one time purchase option that is very reasonable so it’s definitely worth it to me. So far I love it!
