I’ve used Zwift on and off since ‘15, but this winter I’m Whooshing it. I try different apps all the time, and have used Mywhoosh before, but they have improved a lot lately. It is stable and looks pretty good on my iphone SE (HDMI to a cheap TV) . The newer Windows version is stable as well now, and I use that a lot too. Workouts are great, and I will run a training plan this winter. Racing is less active than Zwift, but I burned out on Zwift racing anyway, and the ‘social’ rides are default races if you want to try them. I actually like the fact that there are fewer riders TBH. More varied ‘worlds’, lots of nice climbs. A bit of a memory hog but that’s OK by me—it’s free. For now anyway. I don’t spend any real money on in-game upgrades, but I’m saving up virtual coins for my yellow Colnago…. Hats off to the devs. Sync the avatar cadence better (especially climbing) and enable keyboard initiated view changes, a quick look behind key, and that’s about it…zwift play compatibility would be great but not expecting that. See you out there in the sands.
It’s pretty dang good for a free indoor cycling app, the visual looks better on the character tho the background needs work. It’s has and video trainers in workouts “which is what I primarily use it for” which is nice. The main thing for me that I really like this app is that my kickr actually was smooth and hold its resistance from beginning of the workout to the end unlike zwift. I thought my kickr trainer has this issue in zwift where in a workout I would be pedaling and every 2 mins or so the trainer would lose all its resistance for 2 seconds but then would come back on in zwift. I thought my kickr was old and I don’t want to pay for another one since it’s still works beside that annoying little kink but in MyWhoosh IT NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE ONCE!!! I don’t know what MyWhoosh had that’s different but that alone is making to move to MyWhoosh! Keep up the great work!
This app gets compared to zwift all the time, which I haven’t used yet so I don’t have a frame of reference, however, if you’re just starting to get into indoor cycling and you have a smart bike, this is a very decent choice. Pros: For one it’s free, and it doesn’t feature any ads popping up in the middle of your ride so I can’t be too critical with it overall. I think there’s a decent selection of tracks to choose from whether you’re into sprints or hill climbs or just wanna cruise in zn2 for a few hours. The achievement list and customization for your avatar are not too intrusive that it ruins the atmosphere but fun enough that you can appreciate them. The exercise planning and the predetermined workouts are useful for getting a baseline for your fitness level and for selecting a workout that will net you the greatest returns. Cons: As Someone who likes to race against his own times it would be nice to see my previous time on the route I’m riding; Having a ghost avatar is nice, but it only gives you a general idea of your best pace. I would also like to see my best time on the route selection menu (preferably my top three or five would be nice) So I have a target in mind to beat. I suppose it’s nice to have some bots populate the route that you’re currently riding, but when 80% of the other riders are bots The whole experience feels hollow; in most racing games you can race against a ghost in time trial of someone who has posted a time slightly better than yours - I would much prefer racing against this than bots.
