I can’t really speak on the app, but I want to say this team behind the development of this app is practicing wonderful customer service skills. I had thought I deleted my account so that I wouldn’t be charged after my free trial ended. I emailed customer service telling them I’d like to cancel my account. For whatever reason, the account wasn’t canceled, and I was charged $29 twice for two months. I was unhappy and emailed them about it. They were extremely kind, helpful and they immediately issued me a full refund with no issues. Absolutely wonderful people behind the scenes of this app. Thanks so much!
I feel the advertisements and the sign up process for this app imply the learning includes highly detailed videos, that content is presented based on preferred learning style, and that some content might be interactive but it's all just static reading with a few illustrations. There are tons of terms thrown in whose meanings can sometimes be implied by context but most aren't ever actually defined in the text and you can't click on them to get the definition. I'd argue that the content requires some prior knowledge depending on the subject and people need to be at a certain reading and learning level to absorb the info. There is no highlighting option to be able to find and revisit specific content easily and quickly. There aren't links or suggestions for further learning if you'd like to expand on what you just read. There is a lot of interesting information but it's essentially a digital textbook that's lacking features most digital textbooks include. I really appreciate the micro learning is broken down into appropriately sized readings and that that's the point of the app- to learn interesting bits of info quickly - not necessarily meant to be super immersive for long periods of engagement- but again- I think the advertising implies there's a lot more to it. There are a handful of subjects to keep learning interesting and well-rounded.
THIS is the app I’ve been waiting for! History and Geography were my absolute worst subjects in school, so I wanted to review them and possibly gain some knowledge in them. The chapter I just finished on WW1 broke it all down into manageable and easily digested sections. I chose to listen to the oral tape accompanying the text, while reading along at the same time. If you miss something you can rewind the tape partially or completely. There are little “fun facts” interspersed throughout. The only “con” so far, is the typeset is so small in certain areas (as with the mini-maps, inserts, etc.) I can’t read it without getting out a magnifying glass, and this cannot be zoomed in on manually. I’m hoping I can get the app on my Fire Tablet for this purpose (?) and also so that I’ll have those 2 options for using this app. Overall, I’m extremely impressed! Well worth the low annual subscription rate, which honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. Now, I highly recommend it!
