This app has TREMENDOUS potential… IF these beautiful effects could be applied to existing photos. However, these beautiful effects can only be applied to a live cam which updates VERY slowly as it attempts to apply the effects to every frame it can in real time. In my opinion, the multiple choices for effects from different artists is where this app really shines - which is why I gave it the score I did. However, in it’s current state, the app is barely usable. The only workaround I can think of is to bring up one of the photos from your album and display it on a larger screen (iPad, tablet, monitor, TV, etc.) and then point your iPhone (running MonetCam) at the image on the large screen so that a MonetCam artistic effect can be applied). Of course, most users would NEVER do this. The app would be SO much better WITHOUT the live cam view. That would mean that the developer would no longer have to worry about real-time performance issues since most users won’t mind waiting for many seconds for an effect to be applied to a single saved photo of their choice. The artist biographies and examples are nice, but maybe they could be called up by tapping an INFO button if the user wants this info. If the above fixes could be applied by (which has already been promised earlier by the developer) it would make this app a 5-Star app and would be a tool I’d use all the time and I’d gladly pay (one time, no-subscription) for an updated version. This review was written in September 2024. Mr/Ms developer: Are you still interested in adding existing photo support? If so, any estimate on when it might be released? (Thank-you) Cool app! ;-)
I like it but here’s no option to select photo from camera roll to use
