Milwaukee® ONE-KEY™

Don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have these One Keys from Milwaukee. I have one on every large tool I’ve purchased for my business. As well as every tool box. Unfortunately where I live your things are not safe even if they are locked away in your van and your parked in a public place midday. I was unlucky enough to find this out and apparently I’m not the only one, but that’s another story. What I was lucky enough with was having these One Keys on EVERYTHING. The criminals took my tool boxes and tools to a storage they had purchased and began attempting to break the locks when the police arrived and arrested them. Along with my tools they found about $30,000 worth of other tools that they just never sold or were never able to sell, I don’t know. I bought about a bakers dozen of these for around $200 and in turn they saved me thousands. Aside from that, I love being able to track the location during work hours, also I love being able to know what is and isn't available, this used to be kind of a headache. So THANK YOU MILWAUKEE!

This is a good start for what I believe could be a much more powerful tool. One key can track tool and equipment locations and even lock ONE-KEY™ enabled devices (only 3 devices so far). The app needs more design enhancement. The current version has connect up at the top right (after you select which tool) and then touching the tool again edits it’s information. These options should be reversed. Touching the tool again will connect and show all relevant information while the top right small font should give you the option to edit the tools information since that will be the least often performed function. Also, ONE-KEY™ currently doesn’t interact with the Milwaukee m18 batteries. I should be able to track the location and disable the output of these batteries since they cost as much as the tools do. Finally, I have to connect manually to lock and unlock my tool each time. Since the app already knows usage information about the tool and pings it for location every so often, I should be able to set an option to automatically lock the tool after X minutes of inactivity. Alas, I have to reconnect and lock the tool every time. Finally, I really want the ONE-KEY™ tools when locked, to prevent the batteries from being removed from the tools. The batteries and the battery charger are no different than the tools that have no smart features.

This app is awesome but some features are misunderstood. Hey guys & gals don’t give up on the security feature of ONE-KEY™ just yet. This technology is new and in the months and years ahead it could be a game changer. Yes the actual Bluetooth range between your device and tool is limited to only 100 feet, your mileage may very depending on certain variables such as wall density and underground dwellings. However the real misunderstanding is it’s also unlimited global coverage‼️ Yes you read that right let me explain it better. When you consider the crowd sourcing element combined with the clouds ability to spread data over very vast distances globally you begin to realize the benefits. You see ONE-KEY™ is always doing its thing in your tool once activated and when the tool comes in range of anyone with an open ONE-KEY™ app the location data or even shut down protocols (provided you have the tool shut down activated in the app) are sent to the cloud via powerful crowd sourcing algorithms and then back to the original user’s ONE-KEY™ app tracking location. If you have the ONE-KEY™ app make certain it is always running in the background of your phone or tablet. If you don’t have the app load it it’s free. Even if you don’t have ONE-KEY™ tools it’s still a great organizational tool app with lots of cool features and also provides more security to help others locate lost or stolen tools and supports the Ticks as well. It’s the only way the tracking feature truly works and gives us the end-user the power of real global protection against theft. Strength in numbers Milwaukee fans... strength in numbers we should have each other’s back‘s on this ONE-KEY™ app.👍🏼
