LingoTok - AI Language Tutor

This is my third time writing this review because it keeps kicking me out of the review while writing it. The conversation prompts it gives will give you long sentences that it only says once quickly and then wants you to repeat immediately after which is basically impossible. You can get around this by going to customer conversation and asking it specific words or phrases but there are even more problems in that. Often what it says out loud does not match what it says on the screen. I was practicing fruits and out loud itd ask me what peach is but on the screen itd say pear instead. You can see how it gets confusing. And it will randomly use words that already were practiced in sentences that it doesnt belong. For example itd say pear instead”yes is *fruit we just practiced* and when i would correct it itd say it will work on that but then continue making that same mistake more than 20xs. Luckily i already know some of the language so i knew what yes was but if i was completely new to the language i wouldnt understand why it has told me that yes it 8 different words. None of which are correct. Duolingo isnt even that good and it had less issues and went at a pace that made more sense for beginners. For an app you have to pay weekly for this is ridiculous

I rarely write reviews, but this app is truly terrible. For context, I am proficient in Japanese, and I thought that this app might give me an opportunity to practice speaking. There are clearly different AI models for the different languages. This is fine and makes sense. The problem is that it will begin speaking to you in English (despite the fact that in the settings I set it to only use Japanese) and therefore starts using the English AI model. You cannot make it stop doing this. The result is that it doesn’t pronounce any of the words correctly. For any Spanish speakers reading this, it would do the equivalent of reading tortilla with an English L sound (like tilling a field). Furthermore, it actually doesn’t have conversations with you. It just asks you a question or if you know how to say a sentence and then grades your pronunciation. This means that the app isn’t even useful for beginners, because it’s going to teach you how to say words incorrectly and then reward your bad pronunciation. That’s all it’s “good”for. This isn’t even to mention the fact that it cuts both you and itself off constantly. It will leave its own sentences unfinished. It will cut you off in the middle of words to start talking. I used the app for less than 30 minutes, and I’ve already requested my refund.
