This app is amazing first time I’ll let you guys know in a week how I’m going and I’m a high schooler in 9th grade going into band for the first time because I just enrolled and never ever in my life used or played an instrument and this helped so much with the beats and notes before this app I’ve been trying to read on a book yet haven’t gotten anywhere which is upsetting although we all start somewhere and that’s called the start, Now I’m starting something new as an alto saxophone I was super mad in the beginning because I’ve missed concerts i haven’t got to play because I haven’t learned it faster now I am please I suggest this for saxophone users and use this app as ur gem to start somewhere peak because I just found a diamond and now I’m la peace💎🔥 :edit guys most of it isn’t free but it still helped. I am disappointed I wish it was free for all the other stuff but I suggest trying it out.
The beginner course was fantastic. I never played an instrument before. Soon I was learning to play simple songs and learning the fingerings. Then…. The advanced course. ( no intermediate). Now in one step, no longer do you get the letters on the notes. It doesn’t wait if you make an error. Plus adding new complexity to the songs. There needs to be some transition lessons in between. Maybe one where you lose the letters on the notes. Then one where the error pause goes away. Then maybe some faster songs. Not all at once. I was ready to quit the whole thing. But I remember the joy I had at the beginning so I struggle on. It’s more of a chore now.
I loved this app from the start and paid for a subscription. I’m new to sax but have a music background and enjoyed how it would introduce each note or concept and reinforce with lessons. But I was disappointed that the lessons ran out after only 12 notes. Update-the lessons have been extended and improved and I see that the real value in the app is to play songs and improve with the graded guidance. The challenges have become more fun and I’m usually in the top 10, after just 4 months playing sax. I like how Tonestro gamifies learning an instrument, similar to a popular language app. It’s become part of my practice routine.
