Learn Hindi™

A very useful app that I often turn to. It can be difficult to find the perfect place to help you with every word of a new language you're trying to learn. But I have app found this to be my first choice more and more as time goes by. There is one other app that I use more often for actual lessons in Hindi, but this is my "go to" for learning individual words and creating sentences. I strongly suggest that this app be placed in your language toolbox and used often. Namascar . . .

This app is a wonderful tool to expand knowledge of the Hindi language. Although a rudimentary grasp on Hindi grammar and script is recommended, neither is truly necessary. The app is designed to teach basic (but important) vocabulary which will lay the groundwork for further learning. I am currently trying to learn the Devanagari script and being able to read words in the script while hearing them at the same time has been a great help. Though I wouldn't say this app is highly creative it gets the job done.

I really like that this app has audio and pictures to associate with the words on the list to learn, as well as games to practice with. The only drawbacks are that much of the audio is difficult to hear even with the sound turned up all the way. Having the word's pronunciation written alongside it in the user's native language would make it much easier to pronounce ourselves, although I can understand the difficulty in making that available. Additionally a lesson in the Hindi alphabet and character pronunciation would be beneficial to learning the written form of the word. Overall a decent app though especially considering it's free.
