JewelSnap: Jewelry Identifier

I buy vintage jewelry on Facebook Marketplace and always worried about where pieces actually came from. Now I just snap a photo and cross-check against the databases before paying. It’s helped me spot a few mismatched details and I feel way more relaxed about my purchases.

I had an old silver ring with a small stone that I wanted to pass down to my grandson, but I wasn’t sure what the stone actually was. I took a quick photo and it gave me a pretty clear idea of the type and some background info. Made me feel better about telling him the story behind it.

I was about to buy a "gold" ring at a small vintage shop downtown. Something felt off, so I scanned it first. It showed up as gold-plated, not solid gold. When I told the seller, he suddenly dropped the price to like one tenth of what he first asked. That alone made the quick check totally worth it.
