Pose & Draw Dinosaurs

You are going to need your pencils and pens, because this just shows the step by step drawings for each dinosaur- you can’t trace and color them on the iPad itself. I would LOVE to buy such a feature to make this app even better. In the meantime, any dinosaur lover will appreciate this. You can tap on a dinosaur in the family tree style map to select, and then it will bring up the drawings to copy- you can tap the dinosaur’s name to have it pronounced, as well as “pose” the dinosaur in different positions and compare in scale to a human frame or a few other animals to see the differences in size.

I couldn’t believe that it’s free and fully open! It’s a great training program for budding artists of all ages. You get to see the steps from bones to fully reconstructed animals that paleo-artists follow. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. There are a range of species to draw with the special feature that allows you to use an adult or child for scale. You can even use other animals to help understand how large prehistoric animals were. If you want to draw prehistoric animals try this program!

If I was a kid and I wanted to learn to draw dinosaurs I can't imagine a better resource than this app. The posable mode is great for creating first draft poses that give the young artist a starting point for their creation. The number of dinosaurs in the paid upgrade is well worth the price.
