Caveat: I only used the aiming tools so far.
Using an iPhone 6, iOS 8.3
Tested v1 of app, six days after release.
Interfacing with an Explorer 510 terminal.
Selecting different functions in app caused an apparent crash and restart (?) - perhaps the phone just goes black and then shows the desktop before showing the new screen?
Buttons in aiming app were slow to respond or completely unresponsive. Killing the app and relaunching, navigating to the aiming function and then pressing the connect button (for instance) seemed to help, but far from ideal.
I'll be trying the SIP features soon and reporting back if possible.
Based on this feature's performance, I recommend aiming via browser interface, but keep an eye on the app for improvements.
I see potential.
About EXPLORER Connect
EXPLORER CONNECT simplifies management and usage of EXPLORER 510, 710, and 323 terminals.
Via the Connect app, it is possible to monitor and configure the terminals. A satellite phone capability is part of the app that enables making and receiving calls using a smart phone connected to an EXPLORER satellite terminal.
The EXPLORER Connect main menu includes:
- Satellite phone - Use your smart phone as a satellite phone to make and receive calls with EXPLORER BGAN terminals*.
- Dashboard - Overview of terminal status.
- Settings - extended menu with access to phone settings (SIP), terminal pointing assistance, terminal webpage, and About page.
*Note: For use of Satellite Phone, the phone/tablet must support IP Telephony (SIP).
