Are the developers still supporting and updating this app? The App Store listing still says copyright 2021. I downloaded this because I am pre-diabetic. My doctor prescribed a CGM and I’ve been looking for an app that lets me track food and glucose in one place. I’m working hard to learn how I should eat to avoid diabetes. The good - the amount of data I can track, the easy interface, the reports, the sync with my Apple Health data (which imports my CGM readings). The bad - the activity is wacko. I did about an hour of yard work today, but was otherwise just doing normal house stuff. Nothing I’d consider active movement. One Drop is reporting 4 hours. I can’t find any way to adjust the activity settings or turn it off. Logging food is mostly easy, but I can’t see my food log easily, and I can’t edit the name of my meals. So for example, dinner tonight was chicken and salad. My “meal” now shows up as the last food item I entered, which was a condiment. Dumb. Several of the news articles on the main page lead to blank pages. One tutorial mentioned connecting with a coach - led to a blank page. This plus the lack of app updates lead me to believe this app is not longer actively developed or supported.
I’ve been a One Drop customer for over a year now and really like the meter and lancets. They’re pretty for what they are and being on autoship is so convenient. I also like that the company replaces the meter annually to ensure you’re getting accurate numbers consistently. The app, however, is just blah for me. I only use it to keep a running log of my numbers, which I only test twice a day. My meds are all in pill form once a day, so I don’t need to always know what my BG is like insulin users do. I also use a separate app to log my meds and supplements (the Round app) as I find it to be a better interface than OD offers. It’s just more simplistic. So basically I have the one drop on my phone just to Bluetooth my numbers from my meter. That’s it. I wish one drop offered a basic app for this purpose in addition to this one because I just find this app clunky. I don’t read the articles, log food, use the coaching, etc. I appreciate what the company is trying to do with this app and I know all of these extras probably help so many people, but I just prefer more simplicity when using an app like this. A separate lite version would be so great with just a blood glucose log for when I see my doctor and just want to show history without the other frills. Also less pink would be great, although I know that’s the company color.
I looked at several apps but none of them come close! Complete tracking of everything. The logging feature for food is the best. Save your common meals, easily adjust portions, search the extensive database to add foods, even use the built in barcode scanner! Now use Siri Shortcuts to add meals. Connects to health app seamlessly, logs weight from iHealth Bluetooth scale or enter manually. Track a1c, carbs, calories, insulin intake, medications, even activity! This truly motivated me to take my type 2 diabetes seriously. From July to October I got my a1c from 8.0 to 6.4, my weight from 305 to 278. Medications did most of it but understanding portions and the easy logging made a tremendous difference. I can’t thank the developers enough! My only wish would be to have the one drop meter and strips covered and paid by my Medicare insurance. Still, the free to use app is far and away the best I have seen.
