Okay, let me give you a little bit of background… I was so concerned I was developing dementia that my neurologist sent me to a neuropsychologist for cognition testing. I was increasingly having difficulty with remembering things, stumbling over my words, not being able to put things together mentally, and so on and so forth. During our consultation, I mentioned to the doctor that I like doing puzzles, and she suggested a few apps for me to check out, Elevate being one of them. My test results showed no signs of dementia (Thank God!!) but is appears something has “gone in and shuffled the files in my filing cabinet so I have trouble locating the information”. I have been using Elevate and a couple of other “brain training” apps for about a year and a half now, and can honestly say - as in my title - I can hardly believe how much it has helped me. I picked up the others because although Elevate does a great job with memory, linguistics and math, I wanted a bit more variety in the types of “puzzles” I was doing, to include logic, spatial awareness and other things. Elevate is - at least in my opinion - 100% worth the price but you DO have to put in the effort. My memory HAS gotten better, I am thinking more clearly, and I am astonished at how much just a few minutes a day has helped me. I know I probably sound like a paid advertisement, but this has been my actual experience. If you feel you need this type of app, Just Do It. It’s worth the price of admission.
I used this app back in 2018 to help study for my GED tests. It was extremely helpful, however I stuck to the free version. If this was all this review was about, it would be much more positive. Years later I am getting informed via email that if I don’t cancel my subscription (which I never started) I’m getting charged for it within a couple of days. No incoming charge has been shown on my apple subscription list, and when I log in to the app itself, it’s the free version. Reading through reviews I see that this is a common issue. It’s extremely disappointing because the app itself is effective, but there is no reason to be charging customers that are NOT getting premium services. I am hoping that this email is an error, however if I get charged for this while having a free membership, I will certainly dispute it. The amount of people that have been wrongfully charged is not okay. Developers, please try to fix this issue. You have a beautiful app that helps with learning and keeping the mind sharp. Please fix this issue where the game is charging everyone. Thank you, have a good day. EDIT: Shortly after I sent this in, I got an email from someone on the marketing team saying I would not be charged. I love the app itself, and given the very speedy manner in which they contacted me to resolve the issue, I am changing this review to five stars. If I ever need any academic help in the future, I am much more likely to use this again and consider the full version. A big thank you to the team for handling this so quickly.
Elevate enhances cognitive abilities through generalized games targeting mathematics, memory, and language, and more, promoting the use of skills that are applicable to real-world problem-solving scenarios. The sleek, intuitive design with abstract visuals ensures an engaging, user-friendly experience, maximizing learning potential while not compromising professionalism. It is simple and clean. Some of the reading and mathematics sections focus on logic-based performance, building universally applicable skills. A valuable tool for developing mental sharpness and competency across essential cognitive domains. I have the ~$20 a year deal and at that price point it is excellent. There are some concerns as well as space for even more features.C he presence of crosswords on the main page aren’t conducive towards a focus on generalized cognitive performance. Crosswords aren’t heavily backed by scientific research toward maximizing general cognitive abilities. There is no generalized visual spatial search, and the presence of random words and letters does not require reasoning. It lacks abstraction and generalization. There is no need for the update to place this at the forefront focus of the page. Overall, this is a useful tool to keep the brain on a course of maximum informational processing productivity. Not the only one to use, though, this one is particularly effective.
