Dictaphone Voice Recorder

This is a great app. I used another unit prior to this and it did not work. This App is a Mercedes Benz!! It is well designed. The voice clarity is excellent. It upload to iCloud is easy to set up and actually works. The file males are easy to change. I am using it for recording my dreams and it is perfect for that!!! What a terrific well designed product! I give it a five star review and am delighted to have found it.

Originally I loved this app. But after much use… I discovered that if you are using it on your watch and you stop the recording but forget to tap on save (there’s an option for cancel or save) you lose the entire recording and can’t recover it. Being on my watch and arm it makes it difficult because sometimes it gets bumped before I can push save and I’ve lost really important recordings that way. I’ve searched and searched online to try to figure out how to recover it and I haven’t found any way possible. I wish the default set up was to save it rather than delete it if that happens. I have sent four emails to customer support trying to recover very important recording I had and I have had no response whatsoever. So I’m changing my review to one star

So I’ve used this app a few times of times and it does record... just like it says. However there is so much room for improvement. I have three main issues with the app right now:1) Recordings start automatically as soon as I tap the + to create a new recording. This is the silliest default setting I’ve ever seen. I have looked and have not not found anywhere in this app to change the setting so that it does not automatically start recording immediately. I have it set on least sensitive so that it is less likely to record anything before I’m not ready. However, it will still pickup background noise on occasion and records it anyway. ***There should be an option in the app settings where you can choose if you want recordings to start automatically or manually.2) ***It would be more user friendly if the settings options were on the main screen like most other apps are rather on the recording screen. With the issue in #1 above, it’s a pain! I’d rather have my settings already set from the main screen before I create a new recording.3) The file organization could user some significant development. ***A folder system where I could create separate folders and then file all my related recordings in one place would be helpful*** When I am looking for a specific recording, it would be much easier to find if I could set up a folder called “Meetings“ or “Reminders” or whatever. Having to scroll through a list of recordings all bunched together is tedious and time consuming.I might continue using this app on occasion… But will most likely choose to use a more robust one over this. Glad it was free as I would never pay for the app as it is. Very generically developed at this point.
