For us backyard archers, this is an excellent alternative to an expensive Chrono. Due to the limited distance I have available (15 yards), this is a great way to gauge my fps. I have 8 bows that I have measured with a cheap chrono and this is much more convenient. The accuracy is within 5fps of the cheap chrono and that is good enough for my use. I really like being able to keep my different bows and arrows tagged in the app and the sessions feature. I would love a way to export the data so I could keep it in a spreadsheet for easy comparison.
So this app is a great start! We need to be able to input important info about our arrow weight. I believe this could be put into an equation that would allow us to see arrow speeds including just off the string, and down range at your designated distance. This could also be used to calculate total ftlbs of energy down range on the app instead of doing the math. I also didn’t understand where I needed my cal offset adjustment to be. Again this is a great start can’t wait to see more from this app!
I used a buddies Garmin and it matches the exit speed at 10 yards using Arrow Time. After that the velocity starts to differ too much to make an accurate long range tape using any current sight tape application that uses two speed points. I can see this as a great tool to get a starting point to build a sight tape with how accurate it is at that 10 yard distance. Would love to see it measure even closer at 5-8 yards when I’m building bows and starter tapes in the shop.
