If you love romantasy books and don’t want to waste your money on AI slop, this is the app to download. KU has become inundated with AI generated books—allegedly as many as 61% of paranormal romance books were not human-written. It’s destroying the literary experience for both readers and authors, and I’m thankful that this app is trying to change that.
Found out about this app today at Romantasycon from the gals who made it (and we love female app developers, obviously!). I’ve been dying for a reasonably priced, flat-fee subscription platform (no limiting tokens or credits, looking at you Audible) to listen to audiobooks on, and something tailored to Romantasy readers is even better. This app looks like it has great potential to give Romanstasy readers everything they would want, but it’s not quite there yet. If the app could add more selections and tidy up the rating system, I think this would be my favorite subscription. I’ll definitely check back to see if it reaches its potential! Pros: - visually pleasing - user friendly - looks to have all the data you’d want (spice level, ratings, subject matter tags, etc) Cons (current state): - limited to lesser-known authors - relatively few 4+ spicy books, almost all of which seemed to be authored by the same 2 authors - no indication of where the spice level comes from (what makes a book 2 peppers versus 4 or 5? What scale is being used here?) - some books seem to be incorrectly categorized (for example, there was a book with 4 peppers, but the description said it was low spice)
Finally (FINALLY!!) a place to find goooold romantacy books. The app is curated so well, and I love how I can see books from some of my favorite authors but also discover new ones. If you love romantacy (and let’s be honest we ALL DO!) I highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️
