This app looks like it has a lot of great things packed into a single place. My only problem is the subscription. While I understand the market for an app like this is small, but $40 a year is insane. You would be better off spending $90 for the lifetime subscription to the LICW club. What is more aggravating is that the developer only took existing techniques and methods and aggregated it into this app and didn’t actually do any of the research or work themselves (Koch and LICW and CWOps studied implemented and updated these techniques). I’m not against paying for an app that has value (this looks like it does) but a perpetually recurring cost with no real future development (what can they add to make it better for the money?) makes the cost outweigh the return on investment. I’ll gladly update my 1 star review if they adjust the subscription to a more reasonable amount.

Constantly looking for the perfect Morse practice app (I have nearly all) I was quick to give Head Copy a try. Glad I did! As an LICW member/student, I appreciate the options that support the LICW process. It is also packed with valuable features: in addition to the usual Morse chart, learning tips, and practice routines, there’s a full color Band Conditions screen (ala VOACAP), QRZ Callsign Lookup, RBN Spot Lookup, CW Club RBN Spotter, WA7BNM 8-day Contest Calendar, and the US band plan presented in a uniquely quick reference format. Doubtless there will be more to come and that’s key. The creator, K8APP, is a fellow traveler on the learning Morse journey who has achieved the proficiency we newbies strive for. He has chosen to apply his learning experience and software expertise to create a tool that directly addresses what we need to learn, progress, and maintain our skills, but also an ongoing tool supporting on air activity. In his bio he encourages feedback and suggestions. I took him up on it and suggested adding an option to drill my call sign, name, and QTH. You can imagine my surprise when it appeared in the next update. I’ll say it again: great app!
