Reviews: What People Think About Kalam: Learn Arabic

I wasted 30 dollars on this just for it not to work, when I first got it, it was amazing but the translator feature began glitching and now it kicked me out of my account and when I try to sign in it doesn’t work, so please do not get this app it’s awful and it has no customer service. This app most likely is trying to scam people

I really wanna give this at five stars. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, it does seem that it’s in it growing pains of development still or maybe they’re just working the stuff out. Every time I start the app I have to go through the questions of what my preferences are what my interest interests are my age and it’s kind of annoying. I just wanna open the app and get going. I wonder if this is an issue with the fact that I use the App Store to create my login or if it’s an app issue however even with the glitches that occasionally occur if this part was fixed, I would use this app constantly. It just takes me forever to get going either way It is pretty great. I’ve never seen an app that engages the learner the way this does in so many different dialects with relatively high accuracy

So, it’s okay if you’re only using the “free talk” section and already know how to read and type in Arabic. The speaking option and tests don’t work. If you click on a test and try to use the microphone, it locks and doesn’t let you go on to the next question or record anything you say. I’m also not confident that the dialects are fully using words from those dialects rather than mostly utilizing fusha (MSA). If they are, they’re specific regional dialects within the country. I think a good update to the app would be to select regional dialects within the country (North vs South) since there are some pretty big differences there. It’s quite similar to just speaking to a chatbot in Modern Standard Arabic. If they could hire different people that already speak the dialects I think there could be some good improvements. Great idea overall, just needs some work
