Works fine with my UV-5R mini but on my UV-5R I have a frequency programmed into channel “0” and when it reads the channels from the radio the app starts reading at channel “1” so all of the frequencies are off by one channel and there is nothing I can do about it. It’s usable but not good.
I downloaded the app again and was able to register. It read the radio and was able to program two of them. The software is mainly GUI (general user instruction). I found this to be true after a good night sleep. The next day I found something new with regards when creating new files and deleting the old. I recommend numbering your radio(s)to correspond with your save files, if you have two to program. You must turn on wireless feature in order to program them from software on your phone.
Managed to make some basic setting changes on two 5r minis. Looks like I can save the channel memories as a “plan”. So far I don’t see a way to import/export the channel memories as a file (e.g. CSV) to keep the channels consistent with my other radios. One more star if it could do that. Had to give the app an email address to do anything at all, which makes no sense. One more star if you could use it locally without signing in. Update: I see the plans are synced across devices. That must be what the login is for. They could just put the data in iCloud like other apps.
