I used this glasses for several days up to now. The battery is good, the display is good, the interaction is okay. But for navigation, I think there should be more optimization. I can understand that safety reason will limit the function. However, remove the function is the last step. I think for driving navigation, there are more improvements in space than just remove it. For example, you can just show the speed, next suggested operation and a large route map. Do not change the display like walking or cycling. It is nonsense that you give navigation function but no driving mode in US market. Also, you did not limit the user use it under cycling mode when driving. This will still cause safety problem. There are more UX experiences to improve. I hope there is a function in app to feedback bugs and suggestions. For example, my glass cannot record QuickNote for more than 1 second. I am not sure this is spec or a bug. I want to check with product team easily.

The Even G1’s are undoubtedly the future of minimalistic AR glasses. The simple display green led works perfectly for its intended purpose and the features (while limited) are very useful. The app is somewhat buggy, the biggest issue being connectivity. As far as I’ve seen from using it these issues mostly sort themselves out. Annoying? Sure. Detrimental to the service that these glasses provide? Not at all. The only thing I haven’t been able to figure out is why the bitcoin stock on the dashboard refuses to refresh. 4/5, soon to be 5/5 as updates roll in. Thanks to the developer team! Also shout out to the discord and subreddit, they are extremely helpful for troubleshooting.

The app, overall, is fine. The biggest issue is the fact that the live translation is a paid service. This was not communicated explicitly, at least not in a way that differentiates from subscription. All early adopters buy these under the guise of “No subscription” which seems to be a misrepresentation of what people think they are buying. Rather than tapping into readily available translation APIs, Even Realities has decided it’s necessary to nickel and dime users for core functionalities that many likely based their purchasing decisions on. Micro-transactions are not the future, and… with any luck, consumers will vote with their wallets and send such marketing ideas to the grave. As for the navigation, I had hoped it could be used as a navigation HUD while driving, but navigation is limited to walking or cycling routes. Driving use cases, particularly for navigation, is where this technology can and should shine, preventing eyes taken off the road. Alas, the usefulness is cut short with the app limitation.
