This is the second review i’m writing, felt it necessary after the last few updates. The developers actually read reviews and support issues through the app, considering this is a free to play game you really couldn’t ask for more. A couple ideas I have to make the game a bit more interactive through the social side of things: friends should be able to see your rankings in the weekly event, might encourage a bit of friendly competition. Another thing is with trading I think that the trade limits are a bit low, 5 trades a day doesn’t really inspire people to make more friends, especially when what we can trade is so limited. It would be cool for people to be able to trade hero cards (maybe not legendary as to put some type of a limit on that, make people want to do the weekly events etc.) but for lower tier hero’s, or we should be able to choose the amount of items we want to send. Like if people have a surplus of purple scales or gems from their mine, they could send more in return for a card they really need. Just an idea, love the game and the many updates that have come out in the few months since I have started playing!! It would also be nice to have astral essence a bit more balanced, it seems that a lot of late game players are having an issue with getting enough essence to upgrade hero’s specifically.
Update: So I’ve been playing on the new update for several days and I added a star back in because yes, they did make it easier to get the keys. I also really like the new combat system in the events, and that even new players can get event rewards now as opposed to before. I still think some of their base items (like diamonds) are too expensive for the amount you get, and the resources needed to level up your castle rooms and your heroes are really high compared to how much you can earn in a day, but the game did improve. — I very rarely write reviews, but I’m annoyed. They just posted an update hours ago and I was excited to find they finally added a new advancement in the main game, but they also now made it even harder to open chests. I like the game a lot but you have to have keys to open chests, and you can only get a few keys per day. You used to get one free chest a day that didn’t need keys, and the lower level chests required one key. Now the free chest needs a key to open and you need two keys to open the lower level chests. You can’t rank up your heroes without opening chests. You can’t do higher level adventures without ranking your heroes. You can’t get the daily/weekly bonuses without completing adventures. And the cost to buy diamonds that you can use to purchase keys is insane. I don’t mind spending money on games. I do it all the time. But not at these prices. Unless I find out through gameplay that they added more ways to earn keys with this update, I’ll probably quit, which is a shame because it really is a fun game that I wouldn’t otherwise mind spending some money on.
This is a fun game. I’ve been playing for about two weeks and finished the solo content in less than a week. Progression felt really satisfying without huge paywalls or time gates, and I appreciate that. Since they respected my time, I rewarded them with a purchase. The ad scorcher deal is definitely the way to go - unlike some games, it actually removes ALL the ads and you get all the benefits (i.e. resource generation becomes 4x for “watching” ads) I rate this 4* because there are some problems with the game that detract. For me, #1 is the adventures. They continually scale up with no way to remove or reset them, so you are unable to run adventures 90% of the time until you level up a hero. Then you can do two more before getting stuck again. This directly affects event scores b/c you can’t get adventures that boost your score, and events are the only thing for me to do right now. It’s feast or famine with this game and Codigames’ reputation of abandoning their games early precedes them here. I’m crossing my fingers it’s different this time.
