I hesitated so much on this purchase because I couldn’t find any reviews or any videos except the developer’s demos.
Couldn’t resist and took a chance. Wow! This app is so fun! The interface looks a bit minimal and cryptic at first, but it’s pretty easy to figure out and has plenty of settings for a great variety of effect.
A couple settings confused me at first, but the developer was quickly responsive and helped clarify.
This app is a magnificent experimental midi controller and a creative blast to use!
I have this same developer’s app called sqsl RSVP that gives you spectacular control and mixing of looping samples. I highly recommend it as well!

Yes; great sky star concept. A tutorial or manual is needed though. I dig the left and right tabs but am confused. Cheers, this could be ace cash money style….

sqsl Astral turns iPad into a conceptual MIDI controller inspired by the night sky.
- Full-screen use for maximum immersion effect.
- “Pitch class inversion" quantizer with 5 quick-access pitch presets.
- Notes in the field are spread across 3 parts with adjustable density, octave range, velocity, and MIDI channel assignment.
- Each part can be sent to multiple MIDI channels (rotating or random selection).
- Note fields with quantiser settings can be saved to 5x49 preset positions for later recall.

- Astral starts and runs in full-screen mode. Swipe from the left edge to show controls for switching quantiser presets or from the right edge to access other settings and parameters.
- Astral does not make any sounds on its own; it generates MIDI note-on/note-off messages.
