I really enjoy the concept of Glam and the styling aspect of the game, but there is one thing that has been bothering me enough that I feel it needs to be addressed. I’ve noticed a repeated pattern with the dark-skinned Black female character. Almost every time she appears, she is portrayed as sassy, demanding, having an attitude, or being unnecessarily difficult. She is often introduced as a high-profile client who needs to look polished, but the interactions themselves rarely feel warm or respectful, and even her compliments when leaving tend to come across as backhanded or condescending. What makes this especially noticeable is that the other female characters seem to have much more variety in their personalities, stories, relationships, and struggles. They aren’t repeatedly reduced to the same stereotype. I understand that characters can have different personalities and that a confident or demanding character isn’t automatically a problem, but when the same traits are repeatedly attached to the dark-skinned Black woman, it becomes difficult not to see the stereotype behind the writing. Representation matters, especially in a game where players are interacting with these characters repeatedly. I would really like to see this character given more depth, warmth, and personality beyond the “sassy Black girl” trope. I genuinely enjoy the game, which is why I hope the developers take this criticism seriously and consider giving her the same range and complexity they give the other characters.
Before I start yapping the simple message is simply JUST GET THE GAME. Me and my sister have been searching for a game that has the same fashion mechanics and cool stories as project makeover since we really enjoyed the game’s stories and the glow up of the clients. Unfortunately we could not continue due to us being preeettty terrible at matching puzzle games. This game provides intricate stories and gameplay with different clients without the puzzle mechanic (perfect for those who love project makeover or are looking for a fashion game where you can choose the perfect outfit and makeup 💄 for your client and build up reputation. All of the other fashion games we have played have either 1. Had too much ads and not enough ways to gain coins or gems needed to buy outfits, 2. Had an annoying mechanic such as where you may buy an outfit but once you dress one or two clients in the outfits you may have to buy the outfit again in quantity like the real life (I usually again do not have enough in game coins to entertain this nonsense)😡😤, 3. Pay to stay games. This game provides none of these annoying pet peeves and the gameplay is very smooth with no bugs and overall amazing. 🤩 It provides many opportunities to get coins and if you do not like competitions you can just continue the actual story to get coins as well. This is a great game 👍💕.
I love this game so much. I’ve been playing it for two years now I think it’s been my go to game and I can just go back-and-forth to it if I stop playing and then I can come back to it and start in the same spot which is nice. I enjoy the fact that I barely spent any real money on this game like other fashion games I’ve had and I actually achieved more on this game than the other games by spending less money on here. The fact that we have options to watch ads to get more gems that are hard to come by and watch ads for coins. The fact that after every mission you can, double the rewards really into this game more than other ones when you choose to watch and add otherwise there are no un interrupting, ignoring ads while playing the game. The one suggestion I wish that could be in Glow would be if we can see the other contestants outfits as well as ours when we get the results back for each contest. Because a girl really be forgetting the outfits I’ll be making like why did I get number one for this one but why did I get first place for this one? It be really cute to see other people’s outfits too and what they put together when they win. I like the fact that we can have friends on here now too, what if there was a place where we can see the outfits that we “post” after certain missions and be able to see our friends too? Otherwise, this game gets me addicted every time I start playing again. Another suggestion is can we please please please add tights and socks to the accessories because all I see is that we’re wearing shoes without socks like the sneakers. Plus, it would make the outfits more fun and cute to wear.
