After working in the news industry and witnessing media manipulation first-hand, I completely swore off reading the news for years... until Spread! I'm so grateful that the Spread team has created such a beautiful design, encouraging reading and thoughtful reflection without all the noise and distraction of other apps. Best of all, I feel excited to share engaging articles on the app... and then pick up the phone to debate ideas with my friends. I love that I can always trust who's posting the content. It makes me feel like I'm back in college, having menaingful conversations, even though I work remotely and don't get a lot of chances for robust intellectual conversations. Highly recommend!

This is the app design I've been waiting for. Over the past few years, every news feed and reader I've tried has become cluttered with clickbait, reductive meta-conversations that hardly engage with essays being shared, and promotes only the content that most clearly divides tribes. Spread brings me relevant articles based only on direct recommendations from readers in my network, and presents each article context-free so I can do my own interpreting before discussing with friends. It's a feed that isn't soul-crushing, and I'm excited for it to get stronger as more friends join the ecosystem.

I have found Spread to be a wonderful haven away from the norm of vicious garbage that the rest of the internet has pretty much become. In this small oasis of reason people share articles and news stories that they find of interest and which they believe others might as well. It’s essentially a curated set of interesting articles which I have found to be universally intriguing and thought provoking. It really is in some ways what the early founders of social media thought their apps could become.
