Offline Translator: Spanish HD

I found this Spanish-English translation app useless. I was in Mexico for a week mostly without wifi. I downloaded this app and bought the companion app hoping they would provide translation when I did not have access to Google. As I was traveled around I would enter the words I saw on signs into the app. Its translations were horrible, useless, & sometimes hysterically wrong. I could never trust it. I even bought the 7-1 translation app for use with photographs. With it you can take a picture of Spanish text (like a road sign or instructions printed on a product you might buy in a store) & supposedly the app would translate the text. Wrong! Again, this companion app was useless. First it would not OCR the text well. Second, its translations were useless, ridiculous and plain wrong. Finally, at the airport there were many signs with the English translation directly underneath. I tried the app there. Not once did the app translate an airport sign correctly - NOT ONCE. The positive reviews fooled me. Be forewarned.

The spoken translator is WAY too fast and there's no way to slow it down so you understand what the app is saying (it's this way for the French and Spanish) version. Words are not enunciated to the point where a simple sentence like "can I have a cold water please," is converted and said so fast you can't repeat it. You can read the text but as a listen and repeat app its vertically useless for anything but simple words. I describe it as fast mumbling. But, the conversion is okay. 5 star? No way. Not with the voice translator being on warp speed. Fix this and it will be better.

Seems to do what it says it does. However I opted not to download the packs for photo recognition at setup. Regular translation still works fine offline despite that. Only downside is that it asks you to purchase the upgrade before it does each translation.
