It’s really cute, I’ll give it that. I haven’t been able to get the full genie experience because I JUST got one of my friends to try it out (he’s downloading it as I type), but I will express that there is one thing that annoyed me while making my Genie. Their hairstyle don’t include dreadlocks. Yea, they’ve included curly hair women but with how often you see locs you’d think we would be included. Most other games that give you the option to build your character has locs as an option, so when I’m building a “clone” of myself I’d like it to represent me as much as possible and that’s something that they overlooked. It’d be nice if they could update the hairstyles to include everyone because when you even have the option to be bald, it seems like those of us with locs are the only ones that have been left out. Otherwise, it’s really 5 stars.

Genies is genius!! What a fun way to connect with friends, share news stories, and learn about what’s going on in the world. Stories are personalized to your interests so you’re guaranteed reading stuff that you care about. Although there isn’t a gender neutral option yet, characters can be personalized to a very impressive level, from 20+ face shapes to all sorts of clothing. Animations are funny, entertaining, and help people relate to each other more. The one thing I have an issue with is their approval process, which seems to be based on how much social media influence you have; if they made it more readily available to include everyone, I’m sure they’d find even greater success! Great team, great concept, great execution. I can’t wait to see how this app develops!

My wife turned me on to this app. At first I thought it was another cheesy avatar app, but this one is more than that, it’s animated, and very customizable. One of the bugs I noticed was the lack of letters appearing while u type, it’s just blank. Also, the avatars you have to choose from while there are many, are pretty basic in terms of the options u have to use. Don’t be surprised if a word u type doesn’t populate an avatar. It would be nice to create your own avatar and backgrounds to add to your arsenal of choices. Overall, very satisfied and happy with the app. For something this cool to be free speaks for its self.
