I use this app for my 5yo daughter who loooves music. Before introducing her to this app it’s was always a battle to get her to brush her teeth. While brushing her teeth it was a struggle to still. She was impatient with the process. Now she can’t wait to brush her teeth, and sits still through the process (her brushing first & Mom or Dad follow up afterwards). Love this app. It’s has made brushing her teeth fun rather than a choir.

I have issues playing my own music. I can only play the app’s music which I don’t want to do, or not why I downloaded it. Until this issue is resolved, I’m going to give it 2 Stars.
Update: I figured out how to get the music to work. I didn’t confirm the permissions to allow it to play. I wish there was another option or way to play music from a different app besides within the operating system in the phone. Until there’s more options added, I’ll now rate it to 4 stars.

Love this app. I use in sessions with clients as a pediatric OT and recommend to parents. I just wish the visual was more concrete, or that there was an option to change the progress visual to actual teeth in the shape of a mouth. Or maybe even like 4-5 different visual progress options. like a train chugging along a track, teeth, circle, clock, flower pedals. Just a thought to keep kids’ interest and to appeal to children who need something more concerted (I.e. ASD)

Brush DJ has been developed by a dentist for anyone wanting to reduce their risk of gum disease and tooth decay. The app helps keep your smile healthy and breath fresh. Also, by using this app you will find new songs and rediscover your music collection- from guilty pleasures to holiday anthems!
Brush DJ works with either a manual or electric toothbrush and allows you to set reminders to:
•Change your toothbrush/brush head every 3 months
•Brush at least twice a day
•Floss/clean interdentally every day
•Use a mouthrinse at a different time to toothpaste
•When next to visit dentist, hygienist, orthodontist or dental therapist
You can choose the colour of the screen and timer to match your toothbrush, bathroom or just pick your favourite colour combinations. There are short animated videos showing how to carry basic oral hygiene tasks such as flossing, using and interdental brush and a manual toothbrush. The latest evidence-based age specific information is given from the NHS toolkit ‘Delivering Better Oral Health’. Free updates will be available whenever new oral health information is released.
